This opportunity is offered to a young conservationist or recent graduate with a strong interest in wildlife conservation to acquire professional marketing skills, through work experience and study, to further their career in conservation communications.

The internship is on a VOLUNTEER basis. You will work for a wildlife NGO and study for a marketing qualification.

This internship is coordinated and supervised by Biodiversity Business, a social enterprise dedicated to creating shared value for biodiversity and business. We are a member of the CCF Cambridge Conservation Forum which is based at the Conservation Campus in the heart of Cambridge, where many CCF members are networking in the pioneering David Attenborough Building (DAB). Cambridge is uniquely the hub of the largest cluster of conservation organisations in the world.  CCF

 JOB DESCRIPTION
As a marketing intern, you will work on digital communications projects with a focus on saving endangered species and their habitats.  You will be developing digital marketing skills such as content marketing and blogging, email marketing using MailChimp and Web development using WordPress. All this will be done in breathtaking locations in peninsular Malaysia, on a tropical island, in the rainforest or in the vibrant capital city Kuala Lumpur.

QUALIFICATION
This Marketing Internship for CONSERVATION is sponsored by Cambridge Marketing College, the leading marketing college in Europe providing professional qualifications and courses in marketing and PR. The intern will be enrolled to gain the CIM Chartered Institute of Marketing Certificate in Professional Marketing. This is an internationally recognised CIM qualification. The course is a degree level qualification for those relatively new to marketing and introduces the fundamentals of marketing, digital marketing and marketing communications. The course consists of three modules: MARKETING, DIGITAL MARKETING and INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS.

DURATION
The internship will start from January 2019, and you will have to commit ONE YEAR to complete all three modules of the CIM qualification by December. All your study with the college is via Distance Learning.

You can expect to spend about 15 hours a week for the first 3 months to prepare for your marketing exam in early April. After taking your exam for the MARKETING module, you can travel to Malaysia to start your full-time work in the field. During this time, you will work and study for the remaining two modules: INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS and DIGITAL MARKETING. Your stay in Malaysia will include trips to project sites in the rainforest and a marine park on the East coast. This will take at least 6 months, but you can stay a maximum of 9 months and return home by the end of the year.

Please note that all the internship costs including mentoring and all your study fees with the college and CIM ( total cost almost £1500) are sponsored. However, the intern is expected to fund following expenses: Travel to and from Kuala Lumpur, Accommodation fee (maximum of £400 for 6 months, as the college has sponsored part of this fee too), Personal Travel insurance, Visa costs, Vaccinations. Communal food or a food allowance is also provided, but any extra cost for food, drink, shopping is for intern’s own account.
